Less mpg with methanol. LOT more corrosive than pure gasoline. Comparisons also consider a blend of gasoline & methanol for passenger cars. You see the notice on the fuel pumps "May Contain Up To 10% Methanol".

Indy cars run darn close to 100% Methanol. They cannot run pure Ethanol, they have to run 98% Ethanol with 2% gasoline! Why? It would have been considered pure grain alcohol and subject to liquor tax. And that is fact!

I don't know much about the alternative fuels? But lets say a stock 300hp car gets 20 mpg with Gas, what kind of mpg would the same Car get using Ethanol, or E15, (is that the same stuff?) or Natural Gas or Propane?
Now I'm sure I'm not asking the question right? But you get the idea? I know our Government keeps trying to shove alternative fuels down our throats! But you don't see many off the Government folks driving any of those little Crap cars?  LOL

That shows horse power used VS HP available would be a bit more relevant.
