[DeTomaso] Rocker arm alignment

Seems like I've seen aftermarket two-piece bolt-together pushrod guide
plates for sale somewhere, that will fit the 351-C. A much better idea than the
traditional cut-the-paired-guideplares-apart-&-reweld them. Poorly aligned
guide plate openings are a problem with many valvetrain changes on
Clevelands, and as Garth said, this high-rpm engine is very intolerant of poor rocker
alignment.
Do NOT try grinding the hardened guide plates to fit, while on the car. You
will NEVER get all the steel grit out and crank bearing failure will
follow.
Glad you caught it before anything broke. Also suggest finding a new engine
shop that knows something about Cleveland Fords, if further work is
necessary. Good luck- J Deryke
