[DeTomaso] Rocker arm alignment

I'm even more amateur than Ken, but I do know that when I had my engine
rebuilt, it just wouldn't live and bent pushrods every 500 miles. One of the
many problems discovered was the pushrod guides, which weren't where they
needed to be. They were cut apart and welded together. The engine hasn't
bent a pushrod in 10 years now, knock on wood. Just one more data point...

I'm very much an amateur at this, so take this with a grain of salt.

I had the same problem and I still worry if I got them aligned well enough.
You can bend the pushrod guides, and even cut and weld them.  I think the
holes in the guides are a little over sized, so sometimes you can loosen the
rocker arm studs and move the guide a bit, then tighten.  Probably fill the
gaps with locktight.  I even used some different guides (Manley and comp
Cams) on different cylinders and one brand matched better that the other on
the different cylinders.  I'm surprised the engine builder was satisfied
with what he gave you.

Just got my engine back from the builder.  After I got over the bling factor
I noticed some of the rockers are not lined up directly over the top of the
valve stem tip.
See picture links.  These CompCam rockers are installed on CHI 3v heads.
I've rotated the engine several times and the alignment doesn't differ.
All of roller tips are hitting the center of the valve stem so I think the
pushrod lengths are good.
It's just the offset side to side on a couple of the rockers that has me
worried.
Appreciate any opinions.
