Bill, sounds like your Pantera is done
that is great.. drive it
I had mine out last night at cruise night
and a few of us are talking about going over
one of the mountains Sunday for a spirited drive

I also bought a new Alt for the Firebird-powermaster
140 amp.. the old one cooked itself.. inside
coils below were melted due to too much voltage
required for vac pump, fuel pump, elect water pump,
elect fan and msd.. everything was fine until I did
a cruise at night with the locals and the lights put
it over the edge.. everything is relayed.. larger wires
and grounds.. hopefully the new alt will do its thing
Did not get a chance to test much as a rocker ate itself

The Pantera has had a 100 amp single wire for a long time
but I did bypass the Amp gauge as it did not like the extra
voltage or wires were loose several times.. no more smoke now

Wrapping of Starters
I used to put a welding glove around my starter of my firebird
After each round of autocrossing on a hot day you shut the motor
off for maybe 5 miniutes and try to start again.. prior to the new
starters.. I finally put a bypass wire from the battery direct... switched
under the dash which worked...
