FWIW the Fiesta was a huge hit in Europe and especially the UK - at one point the best selling car in the UK

They were mostly 950 or 1100cc Kent engines over here originally, but they did do mildly sporty or Ghia badged 1300cc and then the XR2 boy-racer mobile with a 1600 from 1982 - which were quite rapid for their class.

And yes, the name has been in constant use over here since 1976

Never knew they were sold in the States...
