[DeTomaso] New speed limits

The new section of SH 130 is slated to open in November of this year and will extend the currently open SH 130 to Sequin, TX.

You can see the work being done along the current 183 if you take a look at the satellite on google maps.

BTW, SH 130 goes by the new F1 track.  I'm sure everyone will be in the mood to get their speed on after having watched the race.  So the 85 mph speed limit may be appropriate.

Thanks,

Bill,  I asked a good friend in Dallas about this 85 mph limit. Here is what he said:

It's not I35.

Our national media has little better to do than report on the speed limit. You think? I saw this on NBC national newscast 2 days ago. The story graphics made it appear as a roadway from Austin to San Antonio which it's not. At least not at this time.

What they're talking about is TX 130, a toll road that loops on the east side of Austin metro. There is very little traffic on it and it is a great way to stay off the parking lot that's officially call IH-35 in Austin from Georgetown to Buda which basically is what this road circumnavigates.

A yellow Pantera would enjoy a run on it and could probably turn the 53 mile route in little more than 25 minutes. I've never seen a radar trap set up and hope this doesn't jinx it. In my E class MB it's a breeze at 95-100 mph. You do have to watch out for the slower traffic, naturally. For Dave, it would be worth every penny of the 8 buck toll to run it. That's not the exact toll cost; only my best guess. If you don't have the RFI toll tag you have to stop and pay at the booths.

San Antonio and Austin - that would be I-35.  Raising the speed limit to 85!!!!  Woweeee!!  Bumper-to-bumper, just like in CA!  Gonna be fun, dudes.
