All non-cat cars smell more than cars with cats.  But yours might smell more than most.  It's hard to quantify over e-mail.

If you run your hose through a charcoal can, it should cut the smell.  I don't think I would run it to the ground.

You might even consider running it to your air filter.

You also want to check where the rollover valve attaches.  It could be venting vapors there.
