I guess it does, after looking at the wiring diagramme. But with a shunted
amp gauge, no big problem. Not as big as an engine that won't stop.

Actually, connecting it that way ensures that all the energy consumed by the
fans has to pass the ammeter.

Pantera Electronics make great things, I have their white and yellow in one
parking/signal lamp. But there is another way to get the fans away from the
fuse block. I've taken power straight from the battery to the relay. That
has four advantages, one disadvantage:
Advantages:
-Simple, as in you won't get stranded anywhere because of this
-Cheap, no purchase necessary
-Stopped my car from running on when key is turned off. I'm not educated
enough to fully understand why, but I was told so, and it works
-No extra juice/heat past the amp gauge
Disadvantage:
When the fans turn on, your amp gauge goes to the right instead of the left
(This can be an advantage also, because it's a sure way to see when the
thermostat turns on a fan, I discovered it is turned on way too often on my
car, will get a hotter thermostat for the fan)

Pantera Electronics has an amazing fan controller, power is removed from the
fuse block.
Also, look at the replacement (plug n play) fuse block.
