[DeTomaso] Rocker arm alignment

Sean,

So does this mean that if I twiked the pushrod guided to align the rockers before the engine was spun, I may have messed them up?  How much does the engine need to be turned over to make valid observations?  Do you need to fill it with oil, prime it, and run the starter till you oil pressure?

Ken

Follow up on my rocker arm alignment issue.  The builder came to my house and picked up the engine and took it back to his shop.
He called me a couple days later and told me that the rockers were all installed correctly.  He told me when he saw the pictures I posted
of the rockers that he assumed that he had missed something. On further inspection however
he says he didn't need to correct anything and it's good to go. He then explained that most of the motors he's
built recently have all been solid lifter race motors and that's why he got confused and actually brought the motor
back to his shop to look at it closesly.
His explenation for the appearance of the rockers being mis-aligned was because the hydraulic lifters were
not pumped up so he said the alignment could look off.  By turning the motor over
several times he said the rockers all lined up as expected.  He delivered the engine back to me yesterday
and I noticed right away that the rockers that were mis-aligned before where now
aligned correctly over the valve tip.  My plan is once I get it installed back in the car and get it running
I can re-examine how the rockers look and make any adjustments if necessary.

Yes he's volunteered to come and check it out at my house.  He didn't really respond to the pictures and what they showed. He said he would try to resolve whatever the issue is so well see  he's been dragging his feet on when he can come over.

Have you talked to your engine builder about it yet?

The stress now is trying to figure out if I should just trust myself to fix it or send it back to someone who didn't do it right in the first place.  Plus the pain of sending the engine back.
