[DeTomaso] Mike Drew

Don't know Mike - and new to POCA. But, I do know HOA's. I also know that
complaining about the work done, or not done by a volunteer, elected or
otherwise, should be the same as volunteering to do the work oneself. Did I
hear someone volunteer?

Subject: [DeTomaso] Mike Drew

After my last post and as an occasional lurker on the forum I noticed
the recent posts on the timeliness of the POCA publications. Two points
- first, in reference to my last post, "Memories", the unique stories
about folk's Pantera ownership could be used as content for a POCA
publication.

Second, I would like to add an analogy that reinforces Leslie Gray's
statement, "Personality and performance are two completely separate
issues some of you seem to confuse for one and the same." As Leslie
stated, it has nothing to do with the value of Mike Drew as a member of
the Pantera community, which is considerable.

I live in an architecturally controlled development, known as a Home
Owners Association or HOA. The HOA Board of Directors that runs this
place, elected annually, is all volunteer. The members of this board
are my neighbors and friends. However, the board has not been been
stepping up to their agreed to task of maintaining the neighborhood
common grounds and enforcing the architectural standards.

As such the home values have not kept up to other comparable
neighborhoods. If a change is not made to find folks that will live up
to the duties for which they volunteered, the home values will continue
to decline relative to other neighborhoods, with very few people able to
sell their homes, with the resultant stagnation of home values. The
incumbents must be voted out, and new volunteers voted in that will step
up to the task at hand.

Sounds pretty much like the what people are saying is happening to
POCA. Baseline, in running an organization or business, friendship and
business can coexist, but you don't prioritize friendship over business,
otherwise the business will in most cases fail.

PS: It wasn't my intention but I inadvertently described the current
political situation.
