POCA used to sponsor many drag races in the earlier years and quite a few 
owners tried it at the Phoenix Fun Rally this year. No ZF breakages; what's 
more in danger is your u-joints in the halfshafts. And don't expect the same 
results as in your Mustang; IRS does not react the same as a live axle to 
clutch dumps. Panteras and Corvettes have too much lost motion in the rear 
suspension linkages to turn 'good' times. But you're unlikely to break the ZF 
unless you try shifting too fast- that tears up synchros. FWIW- J Deryke
