IIRC the judge was so ticked off that a police officer would waste court time on that issue he just told Peter to get the helk out his courtroom because he had better things to do.  :-)

There is a lot of confusion around that law.It originally was a rolling 30 year 
smog inspection exemption with the first newest year of exemption being 1973.It 
only rolled for a few years before they changed it to a fixed year(1975) and 
older.It only exempts you from regular inspections.If an officer wants to, he 
can issue you a ticket and you must get the car inspected and tested.Lucky for 
us car types most police officers either do not know that they can issue those 
tickets or do not care.A lot of officers i have met are  car nuts too!PS,If i 
remember correctly,Peter Kovacs a PCNC member got a ticket for this in his Pro 
Street Vega.Lucky for him, the Judge could not believe that a Vega was a show 
car and still on the road and dismissed the ticket.Peter will have to elaborate 
or correct me where i am wrong.
Bottom line there is no difference between a 1971 or a 1975 Pantera as far as 
smog exemption is concerned.
