Agreed! My best friend has a 1984 Mustang GT with a stroked Windsor/Nitrous/Powerglide combo 

  that goes low 8's in the 1/4 mile on 275 Hoosier drag radials!

On the other hand, they are great for drag racing. 

My brother put a set on his 2003 Cobra.  He said he can dump the clutch 
and they hook without spinning.  I watched him leave the line several 
times in a row without any traction issues at all. 

As well as they hook off the line, they must have very soft sidewalls.  I 
certainly wouldn't use them on the street, except maybe to/from the drag 
strip.
