When i did the Wilwood conversion years ago, the kit i had from PI Motorsports, put the hats in the stock location on the back side of the axle flange.I also had the long wheel studs from Hall Pantera. The kit had washers that went in between the stud and the hat to make up the difference so that the splines would be in the axle flange.Maybe .25 inch thick?
I have since changed the hats to ones that move the rotor to the outside of the axle flange so if i ever want to turn the rotors etc. i do not need to remove the axles. For what it is worth, stock original GT4,s and GT5's had a 3/8 inch spacer between the wheel and axle.I do not know if this was for clearance between the rim and a arms or for wheel offset for looks.
I changed to Mark Williams axles which give you a choice between half inch screw in studs or the stock press in studs.I went with the screw in studs from ARP.
Hope this helps.
