Rather than sandwich a VSS between the angle drive and the speedo cable, why
not eliminate your speedo cable altogether? Just send your speedometer to a
gauge shop, such as North Hollywood Speedometer & Clock or Palo Alto
Speedometer, and have them convert it to an electric speedo. All they do is
install the electric drive motor from an electric speedo into your Veglia
speedo's housing. VDO is the common "donor" speedo and they (VDO) make an
inexpensive sending unit that mounts on the ZF's angle drive. After the
conversion, the only evidence of the "modernization" (other than no more
speedo cable) is an extra wiring harness coming out the back of your
speedometer. Even the trip odometer reset cable works as it did before.
