[DeTomaso] Recaro

Mike, I'm going to put this out to the forum: First info on me: I'm not a fat old man, and I have not been on the track (I'm over 70, and you don't want me on the track with you - reflexes, eyesight, etc.), and my wife goes with me in the car probably 50% of the time. She weighs more than she wants to, and has a really hard time getting in and out.------------------- So, my question is has anyone ever put two different seats into a car? Michael Shortt's idea of seats velcroed in is really fascinating - several problems, though. ---Bill

Mike, Dave Bell has mid-'90's Corvette seats. Have you sat in them? Have you sat in Dave's? I sat in Dave's and they fit me perfectly. When I get a "round-to-it" I'm going to start searching for them. He has mentioned before that he had a hard time getting them installed - that's my only hesitation.

There were two different series of Corvette seats during that time period. Dave had the later style, which is made for the stereotypical Corvette driver--a fat old man. Thus they weren't supportive at all; we were both sliding all over the place on the track.

The first generation seats (from that body style) were much more supportive, and that's what people typically talk about when they mention "Corvette seats". I think they're better-looking too. Gary Herrig (retired pro upholsterer who has owned several Panteras and a Mangusta) has made many of them for Pantera guys; I think he sells them as a drop-in deal?
