Think we can all agree deTomaso will always be a hero to men everywhere, because
he married a woman with enough money to pursue his dreams.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Detomaso Viewpoints?

I've noticed a big difference in the way Detomaso is viewed here in North
America and overseas.

It seems that in the USA (and maybe Canada), Detomasos are closely aligned with
Ford in general. Obviously due to the engines and Ford corporate involvement in
the early 70s.

In Europe, Detomaso is regarded as a storied Italian marque with a long history,
only briefly aligned with corporate Ford.

Obviously, one cannot deny the influence that Ford had with the company, but
their "contributions" have not all been good.

I have always considered Detomaso to be that legendary Italian maker that
briefly marketed a wonderful exotic here in the US, sold through Lincoln Mercury
dealers. I often try to ignore the changes that Ford made when the Pantera was
brought over...especially since many of those changes led to horrible press
here.

The Euro prepped cars were coveted by period foreign tests however.

Does the general public consider the Pantera or Detomaso cars as "Fords"?
