Must have been a pricing issue. Looks a LOT like a Ghibli, and if were half the price they could have sold a bunch of them. Maybe they figured they were going to lose money on the Pantera anyway and didn't want to have the two cars competing against each other.

Very cool, first I've heard of that one.  A lot of Maserati Ghibli in the
ose.  Me thinks the conventional front engine layout might have even sold
etter over here as the mid-engine appealed to a narrower audience.
