Yeah, really no way to know without going on a big hunt through the wiring 
harness.

The original TSB called for a resistor, not to make the gauge read 
accurately, but to make it read artificially low to trick the owner into thinking 
his car was running cooler than it really was.   The 260 degree gauge came out 
so that the 'normal' reading was about halfway to 2/3 of the way up the 
scale, rather than 3/4 or higher as with the 230 gauge.
