The true purpose of the long throw slave is to get more disengagement 
distance at the flywheel with each push of the pedal, disregarding a minor 
increase in pedal pressure needed. More disengagement distance at the clutch= less 
wear on the synchonizers in your ZF. Not only the synchros wear but also 
the cones that are an integral part of each gear, so a worn synchro means 
changing that gear-pair as well. Last time I checked, a pair of new gears plus a 
synchro was well in excess of $1500, not counting shipping a 155 lb 
transaxle to/from a repair place, plus tear-down/build-up fee. Long-throw slaves 
are a flaming bargain! Good luck- J Deryke
