[DeTomaso] Brake question

I am talking out of turn here a little because I'm assuming the shuttle valve on the Pantera is like what is on my TR6, which I just rebuilt because it was leaking. There is a seal on each end of the "shuttle", and if you just remove it there will be no seals. Fluid will pour out the switch, as it is not designed to seal anything.

hat is exactly why I am asking, I think generally for the new owner there might
e some confusion out there over the 'shuttle' and 'proportioning' valves and
omeone might be tempted to 'gut' the shuttle valve instead of the proportioning
alve. That would be bad as it connects all brake lines a singular system, but
ight explain why Rob lost all pedal when the fluid boiled.

he only purpose of a shuttle valve is to trigger the brake warning light. It's
ot really a valve.
f it is removed the front line going into it should be connected to the front
ine exiting it and rear to rear, as if the thing never existed.
f someone mistakenly puts a T fitting in or fiddles the shuttle to make it act
ike one, you no longer have separation of the front and rear braking systems
nd a leak anywhere will result in no brakes at all.

'm trying to picture how you brakes are plumbed, normally a proportioning valve
is in a singular line (typically rear, but stock on the Pantera is front) adn it
limits the flow in that line.
When the shuttle valve was removed how were the lines connected together?

Shuttle valve is removed. Circuits isolated with a modern proportioning
valve.
