You should be able to find Delo at any auto parts store or even Wal-Mart. Chevron's Delo and Shell's Rotella are two of the most popular diesel engine oils out there.

Can you tell me what I should be asking for ?
I took this list from an article back in may of 2011
Valvoline VR1 Racing _Oil_
(http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/default.aspx?zo=5025806) , 20W-50 because its easy to find, cheap and has the 1200-1300 ish ppm
Mobil 1 product 0W-50 Racing Oil "formulated for NASCAR Cup engines" with big time 1850ppm for ZDDP
Mobil 1 15W-50 is "back by demand" according to the web site and has ZDDP loadings in the 1200-1300 'ish ppm range

Assuming you're talking about your Pantera--
Pennzoil 10W-40 will have about 800 ppm of ZDDP-- probably not enough if
you still have non-roller cam followers
You're better off with Delo or one of the other Heavy Duty 15W-40
gas-diesel oils, which have about 1100 PPM.

I use pennzoil 10w40 and my engine seems to run great . PI Motorsports
recommended I switch from mobil 1 to pennzoil.

Thanks Dave!
By 2004 there were catalytic converters so I'd assume that oil for 2004
had
lower levels of zddp.
Of course you know what they say about assumptions...
Thanks!

I don't see anyone speaking up Charles. (no wonder, it's pretty well
impossible to answer now)
For a non-roller cam
..You want >9ppm
..Optimum is about 12 ppm which gives you some room for depletion
(which happens during normal running)
..Folklore says >18ppm gets you into some embrittlement issues.
(I choose to trust this one, no particular reason though)
As to what your 10W40 has in it??
2 years ago it would have had 1200 ppm. Now ?
As far as reading the designation - wtf knows what this means and this is
the API, who make up them up.

What would I do?
Add 600 ppm and pray a bunch.

Hi
Can someone who knows oil or where to look confirm that API SL/SJ/CF oil
needs zddp additive?
I have additive and just bought some Mobil 10W40. (What happens if you add
too much zddp anyway? Is that a bad thing?)
