Besides the wire size problem and the usual corrosion at all the contacts
that also increase load, a high amp alt usually needs dual vee belts or a
gilmer/serpentine drive for more than 90 amps- which being wider cause problems
with DeTomaso's engine access door clearances and engine pully sourcing.
'Course that's only a problem with high-amp draws, but why bother carrying the
extra weight if you're not planning on pulling more amperage than stock?
