[DeTomaso] Good three-wire alternator?

Your question is a good one.

The existing Pantera wiring is adequate to support the existing electrical
loads. If no additional heavy loads are added, the wiring is adequate.

The alternator only supplies as much current as the electrical load
requires. If the load requires 65 amps, even a 1,000 amp alternator will provide
only 65 amps.

The primary reason for installing a higher amperage alternator is to
support the existing loads at lower engine speeds where the OEM alternator is
very marginal. This can be important during stop and go city driving at night
with the lights, the AC, the radiator fans, and the stereo on.

The hazard of having a high amperage alternator is when you have a dead
battery. If you jump start the car, and then use a steady 100 or 200 amps to
charge the battery, this could make the wiring a little overly warm. If
you start the car and let the alternator charge the battery at something like
65 amps with the engine idling, you will have no problems.

Will the stock Pantera wiring support much more then a 100 amp alternator?
With out frying itself?
