Chris Difani milled it so that the back was the same height as the front.   
He basically milled the wedge out of it.

I have a drop base air cleaner and a K&N filter.   Curiously, fitting new 
engine mounts raised the engine just enough so that it no longer cleared the 
screen--I had to buy a new air cleaner assembly with a low-profile lid, then 
just use the lid with my existing drop base and air cleaner.

I remember now that when I had the intake milled, it actually went a bit 
too far.   The secondary accelerator pump arm bottomed out on the top of the 
intake runner.   I had to fit an insulating spacer, perhaps 1/8 inch thick, 
to space the carb upwards just slightly to enable the accelerator pump to 
work.
