I'm happy with the stock gearing, because cruising on the freeway at
3000-3500 rpm ensures my engine is 'on the cam'. People can make the mistake
of overgearing the car, and running below the torque envelope, where the
engine is soggy and inefficient. But if you have a cam that is biased towards
the bottom end, taller gearing can be more beneficial.
