[DeTomaso] radiator question

Fluidynes come stock from Pantera vendors with two Bosch switches that
operate the stock (or aftermarket) fans. It doesn't matter which switch powers
which fan. If you use aftermarket fans -preferably suckers in a built in
shroud, do NOT use any sort of tie-wraps to mount the shroud. They will saw thru
the radiator core, utterly destroying it. There are metal mounts supplied
by the vendors that should be used, as should the No-Rosion water additive
also included that takes care of aluminum corrosion due to local water.
Finally, the Fluidyne hose spigots both need a right-angle turn to mate with the
Pantera underbody water pipes. Some piece together angled radiator hoses but
I use 1-1/2" 90 degree copper sweat-solder fittings and short pieces of the
same 1-3/8" Gates Green Stripe hose used in the rest of the cooling system.
The hoses will expand enough to fit the sweat-solder fittings. Using these
with stainless water pipes and No-Rosion completely eliminates coolant
corrosion in the plumbing.

If your Fluidyne came from other than a Pantera vendor, you'll have to
piece all these vital parts together yourself. Supposedly, the thermal switches
were water cooled VW but dunno what years. The No-Rosion can be found on
line, and you'll HAVE to go to a Pantera vendor for the aftermarket fan/shroud
mounts. Good luck- J Deryke
