[DeTomaso] MSD 6AL failure modes

Is this just a MSD problem OR do other brands have the same problem? So...is MSD the best? What other brands are out there that do the same job? At least on this Forum you don't seem to hear about the other brands crapping out? "Mallory, Pertronix, Accel, or even the Ford units used in thousands of fords?"

I had an intermittent misfire in my Pantera that I traced to a bad pickup in
the MSD distributor.  I replaced it with a new one for $25 and it runs like
a top now.  The old one was cracked and came out in two pieces!

I am pretty sure that when the 6al boxes fail, they just quit.

How do MSD 6AL units fail? Complete, catastrophic failure or can they be
flaky and every now and then act a little weird and then cure themselves?
