Guy was driving the car in the race with crusty, 30+ year old tires, never 
bothered to check them apparently.   He was hauling ass across the desert at 
triple-digit speeds and a tire blew, he lost control and flew off the road, 
upside down.   He wasn't wearing his seat belt; I can't remember if he got 
ejected from the car or not, but he wasn't badly hurt.   That's him standing 
there looking at the wreck in the photos.

Not exactly a shining example to follow....
