[DeTomaso] I just noticed a crack in the corner of my "Detomaso " aluminum valve covers.

The aluminum in those valve covers (and the Ford Boss/HO type also) is 
easily weldable, and the repair can be dressed with a file so no machining 
necessary. It'd be a waste of time & money to throw it away and buy a 
replacement. That's one advantage of aluminum covers, as well as having a stiffer 
flange so leaks are always from a collapsed gasket, not a bent flange. You also 
get a nickel's worth of silencing of rocker noise from them and they look 
nice.
