That must be a tight squeeze...anyone have a pic of a 295 or 305 on an 8 inch wheel?

Hahaha! That was funny!
They may not be fashionable, but they're not extreme. My 295/50-15 Toyo Proxes S/T's have sidewall bulge typical of just about any car in the 70's, exotic or muscle. Granted, tire "fashion" these days calls for short flat sidewalls that expose the rim to curb rash.
FWIW, Toyo's specs for the Proxes S/T call for a rim
width from 8.00" to 10.00", so either wheel is on either end of
the spectrum (or equally "extreme").
Check with your tire manufacturer for wheel width specs, then mount them with confidence!

295 on an 8inch wheel does seem a little extreme.
At least the outside of the tires will never wear out!

Stock is 15x8. Stock rear tire size originally was 225/70, and later 255/60.
265/50 fits on an 8-inch wheel. Many people are running 295/50, which is a bit of a stretch on an 8-inch wheel. Tires that big are much happier on 10-inch wheels.
