[DeTomaso] NPC: Porsche Boxster head gasket

All Porsches have pricey parts. Your idea of an engine swap is fine 
although the purists won't speak to you and some clubs may try to cancel your 
membership. When a friend's 911S blew up, he put a turbo Corvair in it and it 
went faster. Ten years later, a turbo-SBC fit right in and challenged the 
Porsche-Turbos of the day. He also had a 356 coupe with a Corvair. Fortunately, 
he didn't hang around with the purists. 
If you're considering a Subaru, I suggest a Suby 6 used in the SVX sedans- 
these are rare engines (4 valve DOHC flat-6 much like a racing Porsche 
engine) much sought after by home-built aircraft builders, and can be turboed to 
ridiculous power levels if you wish. I always wanted one in my old '65 
Corvair- then I coulda had a heater..... Good luck- J DeRyke
