In a situation like that, it happens so fast, you don't always think of the "right" thing to do.

I certainly wouldn't criticize the driver for not pushing the clutch in or not tuning the car off or whatever.  It happened.  It wasn't intentional.  And luckily, nobody was killed.

BTW, I have had the throttle stick open on my car before.  It's pretty scary.
