[DeTomaso] countach

I think Espadas are beautiful cars.
When I was in med school in Chicago there was one parallel parked on the street amongst the rusted-out Chevys and Datsuns-- looked like something from outer space in comparison. I still remember that from ca 1976

That's about the same thing I tell folks when they ask me if I can hear the
adio. "Who needs a radio when I have the Cleveland symphony in the car
ith me. Guys just smile, most of the women don't have a clue what I'm
alking about . . .
My lovely wife certainly does . . .

John, you write about smiling because of the visceral time. Hearing a Lambo
ngine at full chat is one of the best times and I am not truly why. I
ought my Espada in 2005 and left Thousand Oak going up Hy 5, got to Gilroy
or the Pebble week to spend time with Tom Tjaarda. Got from Santa Clarita
o Gilroy in about two hours. Just turned fifty years old with my E bay
ought birthday present while turning the odometer over at 50,000 miles
hile screaming up the valley floor and no wife/passenger to second guess my
riving style or have a pants pissing function was pure heaven. A true
aster Card moment.
ever exceeded 7,400 rpm or +-154mph because I did not desire any breakage.
t was one of the beautiful sounds ever. Got 11 mpg also. Most of the time
as at 6,500, sounds were spectacular.
eople have asked, how come you don't have a radio? Well, my engine sounds
ike Maria Callas singing Pucinni, who needs a radio?
If I have a horrible day, just sit, start and listen to the engine noise.
ll problems disappear!

USA a couple of years ago. It was an extraordinarily visceral
experience. It wasn't as quick as my Pantera and I did not press its
cornering ability to evaluate it. However, it did not feel like a
truck or appear limited in it's turning radius. The engine's song
under load at 6000 RPM was breathtaking.

My passenger and I were grinning ear to ear like two schoolboys. Quite
 a positive memory.
