[DeTomaso] anyone have details on locating the battery box when you drop it through the floor?

Mine was done in a rather unfortunate way.   The fellow found the smallest 
battery in the auto parts store and then built a battery box around it, 
which limits me to using only batteries of that small size.   Fortunately my 
battery seems to be virtually immortal thanks to the use of an electrical 
cutoff switch; it's been going strong for 15+ years now.

Really though, it's a very straightforward process.   You can either buy a 
pre-made dropped battery box, zizz a hole in the front trunk floor and just 
drop it into position, or if you are handy with a sheet metal folder and a 
welder, you can conjure up your own.

People often forget about access to the steering rack mounting clamps.   
Make sure your battery box doesn't interfere with those.   In fact it's 
probably smarter to locate it and cut the hole from below, rather than from above.
