Ouch, that hurts to read.

First, lesson to everybody, Loc-Tite red on the air cleaner stud, I also
use a nut
on mine to lock it down against the carb body.

You have little to loose by cleaning it up and seeing what happens, if it
doesn't perform,
then you'd be tearing it down anyway.
