[DeTomaso] On-board video of Cobra crash at 130mph

Many interesting points about safety equipped cars (roll bar, harness, etc). Whats amazing it the amount
of energy (as Boyd mentioned) that is generated/dissipated when a car is rolling or flipping. A friend of
mine use to race sprint cars (note "use to"). Full cage, harness, etc., he got tangle up in an accident
on one of the faster sprint tracks and flipped four or five times end over end at over 150mph.
Even with all the safety equipment his body absorbed so much energy during the
flips and landings (landings=sudden stops which puts tremendous strain on the body), he broke his
hand and wrist (don't recall if he had arm straps) and collapsed a lung and burst the internals of one
of his eyes, all from the pressure generated from the five point harness during the flips.

Unfortunately, the body is not as strong as the safety equipment in some instances. In the Cobra video
the drivers body was thrown around like rag doll...he's a very lucky guy if he walked away
with little or no injuries. Recall Dale Earnhardt's accident...I would have never thought that accident
would have been fatal...it just didn't look that violent.
