Dear Jack,

You've certainly confirmed that I am behind the
maintenance schedule on this. Thanks for the short review.

                                           Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

At what time interval or mileage interval should one inspect and re-grease
the front bearings? I appears to have been some time since I attended to
this task. I suspect that it may well be way overdue, but I am curious as to
just how long overdue it may be....

Your Red Owners Manual has a Maintenence Schedule that says to do it by
mileage: 4,16 and 28,000 miles. The Blue Manual says about the same (check
and "adjust") but skips the initial 4k check.
Best guess: if the car has not been driven daily, a yearly (or so) greasing
should be fine. If it has been driven pretty much daily for short runs but
no long trips, every couple of years should be OK. Several things going on:
cars parked for very long times can have their greases turn to hard
clay-like stuff. Re-greasing forces that waxy non-lube out of the bearings.
Frequent use keeps things more pliable. Of course, very hot weather, long
high speed trips and other factors like lack of a dust shield behind the
bearings in dusty areas, also enter into the equation. My best second-guess-
