Thinking about what comes next:
 
Jay will have to testify at a trial and then wait and wonder while  the 
perp serves his time.
 
The creep may get as much as 90 days since the jails are  crowded and he 
was just trying to kill Jay but didn't  actually kill him. Trying to kill 
someone is not as serious a crime as  being successful at it.
 
I think the Pantera Posse should take up a collection to  buy Jay a bigger 
gun. A double barrel 8 gauge should do. Jay  could then settle things 
without all the hassle of a trial and  the waiting period.
 
If the creep knows Jay has a double barrel 8 gauge, he'll  probably take up 
a different hobby.
