Tom,

You will lose a small amount of oil when removing the oil filter, similar to what is lost when changing
the oil filter. Some oil will continue to drip from the engine, similar to an oil filter change.

Sealer on the fuel pump gasket is a personal preference.

You need to rotate the engine so that the fuel pump arm will be at the eccentric's "lowest" point.
Removing the fuel pump doesn't require that (although it makes removal a little easier), but it makes
installing the pump much easier.

If you remove the pump's inlet fuel hose (the on that comes from the tank) at the fuel pump, fuel will continue
to siphon from the fuel tank. Either clamp the hose or remove the upper end (at the fuel tank) first. Be prepared, as you will be draining the fuel from both of the fuel pump's lines once you start to disconnect them from the
pump.
