thanks to all for the tips and tricks - got them out - did split the caliper - ended up using fingers to plug holes and then air pressure

will now look to get rebuild kits

what is the currently recommended brake pad to put on the stock caliper for maximum performance (with part number, if possible) - thanks, stephen

If air pressure isn't enough to push a stuck piston out an old trick is to
use a grease gun to force it out. Replace bleeders and hoses with grease
nipples as needed.

Put the other piston back -in- and block it while you blow out the
other.  Once they are both essentially "loose" then you should be able
to get them out easier.

are two, once one pops out, there is nothing to stop the airflow in order to
build pressure to pop the other one out - on the half caliper that to which
the hose does NOT hook, i was able to use various fingers to plug holes and
so got both pistons out on that one - but the half that has the hose hook up
has too many holes to plug - any thoughts on how to get the other piston
out?
