[DeTomaso] Before I attempt this...

One side on my car had stripped threads and some of the studs had fallen
out.

I tapped them all for 10-24 stainless studs, and I set them in place with a
small amount of epoxy (JB-weld).

I don't think there will be a corrosion issue.

BTW, I had the gills stripped with soda blasting. There were some small
pits, but they were easy to fill with a light coating of primer. After soda
blasting, I used a very good sealer primer, plus a light coating of
primer/filler, and then satin black. The satin black is the one recommended
a while back on the list. It is lacquer based, but it sticks to the primer
really well.

I will ask the group.

The cast aluminum gills for my car have stripped out holes. The previous
owner tapped them for 10-24 studs. I have cut stainless steel studs for all
of the holes to be repaired. I am planning to set the studs in Loctite
metal epoxy, which contains aluminum and silica. I looked specifically for
an epoxy without steel in the resin so that I don't introduce another
corrosion issue. Anyone have experience that this won't work? I'm
concerned about the aluminum corroding from contact with stainless steel and
moisture. My concern is that it's one of those things where you want to
prevent a problem but inadvertently cause another one...

Corey
