[DeTomaso] Wiper Shaft Pivot Nut

What's up with the windshield wiper pivot shaft nut?  It's a 5/8"-24 thread
but it's outer hex measures slightly over 3/4" at 0.760 so a 6pt socket
that's gentle on the chome won't fit; only a 3/4 12pt socket BARELY fits
which increases the chance of chipping the chrome.  What was deTomaso
thinking?

Has anyone bought a new one from a vendor that actually fits a 6pt socket?
