IMHO
 
Relays with built in diodes damp voltage transients when the relay  
deenergizes but take slightly longer to open the contacts ...... not normally  any 
problem at all.
 
SPDT are more versatile. If there is no cost difference, why  not SPDT? 
That is all I buy. If you use the same type of relay everywhere,  you only need 
one type of spare.
