[DeTomaso] Why support the registry?

 In our modern times (if you have a "modern car" ) and it's stolen , you
don't want it back. It will be "tagged" by carfax as a recovered theft and
the title will be branded as "salvage" which is a veritable kiss of death
for resale value. The Marine in the Shelby story was apparently a
relatively young man when his car was stolen and he may not have had full
coverage insurance, it would have been fairly pricey for a young man.
I had a Porsche 911 Carrera 2 that was stolen. As far as I know  no trace
was ever found of it. Once the insurance company paid me off (30 days) It
became their property and their problem.
