[DeTomaso] NPC: Car lift

I got this one a few years ago and have been very pleased with it. It has a wide base / large contact area so the concrete quality is not critical. You just leave it in place and park over it, but you can move it around as you like very easily. With low cars you can keep some 2x6's on the ground fore and aft of it to raise the car a bit.

I would never get under a car sitting on a 2 post lift if the posts were not firmly fixed to the concrete. No way.

If you plan to use it for the Pantera, be sure that you could get the car far enough forward that the center of mass / gravity will be between the posts. I doubt you could-- even with the lift I have I put a jack stand under the rear crossmember because the rear hangs down a bit.

There was a thread on this a while back. Great concept, Jay Leno even gave
it a thumbs up review. My only concern would be making sure you have the
right grade/thickness of concrete in your garage floor to securely hold the
anchors, and to support the weight in such a concentrated space.

I would seriously consider one myself if I had the width an no posts in my
garage, but the posts are exactly where I would need to put the lift.

I would like to get the opinion of anyone that has installed the MaxJax
2 post portable car lift.

http://www.maxjaxusa.com/specifications.html

I don't have a lot of room (side to side) and the ceilings height will not
accommodate a taller unit.

It looks like it has all the features I want in a unit - portability, easy
set up, plenty of head room for seated work.

Thanks.
