[DeTomaso] Ford Eco-boost engine problems (NPC)

Mike I work on everything new and old. A motor is a motor. What we lack with
new cars is experience. That makes the work slow. As long as my laptop can
see the computer it is a go! Many of the younger guys lack the basics.

I was having a problem with a Toyota not starting. I have a friend in town
that works at the top dealer. He said when they see that they replace
everything. The Customer gets a $2500 bill but the car is fixed. If they fix
it for $1000 and it does it again the customer is mad and wants it fixed for
free. They want the customer mad at the bill not the work. It turned out to
only be a bad ground at the computer. Still starting 20k miles later.

>>>A very interesting phenomenon indeed. It used to be that 'auto
mechanic' was a job for dropouts and those who failed academically. Or at
least,
that was the public perception. But with the growing sophistication of
modern vehicles, mechanics have to be MUCH smarter and more technically
savvy
than ever before.

Too, normal people are becoming more and more dependent upon professionals
to keep their vehicles running. The days of the ordinary person who works
on his truck on the weekend are long gone. While those of us here happen
to continue to fool around with old cars, I daresay that the vast majority
of
you who have newer cars don't even consider turning a wrench on them--when
the Check Engine (translation: Bend Over) light comes on, straight to the
dealership or authorized service center it goes....
