[DeTomaso] Cable Shifter

Strange. I don't think I've adjusted the shifter since 2005 when I
pulled the trans. The only mod done is replacing the support with an all
metal unit home made from a big uniball and a brass sleeve that fits the
stock rod OD.

In dissecting the Pantera shift assembly it really is a robust unit. I
have never been a fan of how it is adjusted. When I was adjusting mine,
I
would get it perfect, tighten it up. After tightening it up it was again
off just enough to be cumbersome which is why so many people cut off
their
shift gates.

I had the rod shift away from home a couple times and got in the habit
of
keeping wrenches to re-tighten it on the road.

I had considered making a better adjustable connection to replace the
turnbuckle but I am going down the cable shifter path right now.
