[DeTomaso] Anyone want to help diagnose this one?

 This one had me scratching my head as I was also in the "we're burning lean here" camp, but was puzzled as to how that happens with a single carb.  ( You can see this is my first experience with a V motor.)   I'm buying the theory of a bad intake gasket or some other form of air leak near the inatke on that cylinder as the most likely candidate and will explore further. 
 
Gary..   firing order is standard Cleveland.  1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

That cylinder is absolutely firing, white hot (lean) IMHO. If it wasn't, it
would look wetter than the rest. I'd bet money that the plug tip is whiter
than Tony Montana's nose hairs, if not slightly burned away.
