[DeTomaso] Removing ANSA resonator tips?

I suggest that the problem with a can muffler like the ANSAs is the
can. It's not a straight through pipe like the Mind Train or other
glass-pack type mufflers. The gas pulse goes into the can which has a
larger volume so it expands and slows down as it fills the can. The
next pulse does the same thing and the presure from that pulse pushes
out the gas from the last pulse. Unfortunately that isn't a straight
path so any efficiencies caused by the pulse are lost. So why not put
a straight pipe inside the can, you could even put a Y in the pipe so
that the exhaust exits both tips. It would be interesting to see what
kind of pipe is used in the Mind Trains. Is it solid or is it
perforated to get some sound deadening?
